Referred to the Committee on the Judiciary, and in addition to the Committee on Energy and Commerce, for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned.
The "Make American Flags in America Act of 2025" requires the federal government to purchase and display only American-made flags on federal property. Starting 90 days after passage, federal agencies cannot spend appropriated funds on imported flags, and within two years, all flags displayed on federal buildings and grounds must be domestically manufactured. The bill defines "made in the United States" as 100 percent manufactured domestically from American-produced materials, with narrow exceptions for international trade agreements. The legislation does not affect private citizens or businesses purchasing flags. Additionally, the bill directs the Federal Trade Commission to study and report within one year on how country-of-origin labeling rules for flags are enforced, what penalties have been imposed for violations, and how to strengthen enforcement.
