This joint resolution directs the President to comply with the War Powers Resolution by ending military operations in Iran within 60 days of Operation Epic Fury's commencement on February 28, 2026, and withdrawing all armed forces within 30 days thereafter. The operation, conducted jointly with Israel, involved airstrikes on Iranian military and government sites and has resulted in 13 U.S. service member deaths and 381 wounded, along with Iranian retaliatory attacks and closure of the Strait of Hormuz. Congress asserts its constitutional authority to declare war and argues that continued military action requires explicit congressional authorization. The resolution includes an exception allowing troops to remain if engaged in cease-fire negotiations with Iran, and permits limited military presence to defend U.S. allies or prevent Iranian nuclear weapons development, as long as the President complies with War Powers Resolution requirements. Intelligence gathering and sharing with coalition partners would continue unaffected by this resolution.
