The AI Whistleblower Protection Act prohibits employers from retaliating against employees and independent contractors who report artificial intelligence security vulnerabilities or violations of AI-related laws. Covered individuals may report these concerns to government agencies, law enforcement, Congress, or internally to supervisors without fear of discharge, demotion, harassment, or other workplace discrimination. Workers who experience retaliation can file complaints with the Department of Labor or, if no decision is reached within 180 days, sue their employer in federal district court. Those who prevail in their cases receive remedies including reinstatement, double back pay plus interest, and compensation for legal costs and attorney fees. The bill notably prohibits employers from forcing workers to waive these protections or submit to arbitration before seeking relief.
