The bill broadens support for nursing schools to include funding for simulation technology, telehealth tools, and partnerships with health facilities to expand clinical training, while also adding survivors of sexual assault to populations nursing programs may focus on. It creates a new three-year nurse faculty demonstration program, funded at $15 million through 2031, that awards grants to nursing schools to supplement faculty salaries in order to improve recruitment and retention, with priority given to schools in underserved areas and smaller states. The bill also establishes a three-year pilot program, funded at up to $1.5 million annually through 2029, for state and regional nursing workforce centers to collect and report workforce data, and it increases overall funding authorizations for these Title VIII programs to roughly $184 million and $121 million annually through fiscal year 2031, benefiting nursing students, faculty, schools, and workforce planners nationwide.
