The Department of Energy will provide technical assistance to help states and communities develop community solar programs, use national laboratories to gather financing data, and expand existing federal grants and loans to support these projects. Additionally, the bill extends the maximum contract period for federal government purchases of public utility services from 20 to 30 years, which can help finance long-term solar projects.
