This bill directs the Treasury Department to mint and issue commemorative coins celebrating the 100th anniversary of the U.S. Foreign Service and its role in American diplomacy. The coins will be issued in three denominations: up to 50,000 gold $5 coins, 400,000 silver $1 coins, and 750,000 half-dollar clad coins, all designed to honor the Foreign Service's contributions to U.S. diplomacy. The coins will be available for sale only during a one-year period beginning January 1, 2029, and will include surcharges of $35 per gold coin, $10 per silver coin, and $5 per half-dollar coin. All surcharges collected will go to the Association for Diplomatic Studies and Training to support the collection and sharing of diplomatic history. The Treasury Department will ensure the coin program generates no net cost to the government.
