This bill directs the U.S. Treasury to mint and sell commemorative coins honoring the 2028 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games in Los Angeles and the 2034 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games in Salt Lake City. For each Games, the Treasury would produce four types of coins: gold $5 coins (up to 100,000), silver $1 coins (up to 500,000), half-dollar clad coins (up to 300,000), and premium proof silver $1 coins (up to 100,000). The coins would be sold during a one-year period starting January 1 of each respective Games year, with prices covering production costs plus surcharges ranging from $5 to $50 per coin depending on denomination. All surcharges collected—which could total in the millions of dollars—would be donated to the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Properties for the 2028 Games and the Salt Lake City Organizing Committee for the 2034 Games to support youth sports, legacy programs, and athletic development. The bill ensures the Treasury incurs no costs by requiring all expenses to be recovered before any surcharge funds are distributed, and the coin designs would celebrate U.S. athlete participation in these Games.
