H.R. 2529
The Convenient Contraception Act requires health insurance plans—both group and individual coverage—to allow people to obtain up to a full year's supply of contraceptives in a single transaction, without any out-of-pocket costs. The bill amends existing health insurance regulations to give enrollees the option to fill or refill their entire annual contraceptive supply at once, rather than being limited to smaller quantities per refill. This requirement takes effect for insurance plans beginning January 1, 2026. Within 90 days of the bill's passage, the federal health and labor departments must conduct outreach to inform doctors, healthcare providers, and people with insurance about this new benefit. The legislation affects all Americans with group health insurance, individual health insurance plans, and those who may become insured in the future.
