The Space Ready Act authorizes NASA to establish a pilot program and create an Infrastructure Investment Fund to upgrade facilities at Kennedy Space Center through a combination of public and private investment. The legislation allows NASA to collect assessments from companies conducting commercial and public activities at Kennedy Space Center and deposit those funds into a dedicated account to pay for repairs, maintenance, renovations, and modernization of NASA-owned infrastructure at the facility. The collected funds will remain available for NASA to spend as needed on these infrastructure projects. NASA must submit annual reports to Congress detailing how much money was collected, how much was spent, and what future projects are planned. The authority to collect these assessments from private entities expires on December 31, 2035, though any money already collected can continue to be used for infrastructure improvements after that date.
