S. 2623
The HONOR Act of 2025 aims to increase transparency at the Department of Veterans Affairs' National Cemetery Administration by requiring it to publicly display current burial schedule availability for each cemetery on its website, updated monthly. The bill affects veterans' families and funeral homes who need timely information about when burials can be scheduled. The VA Secretary must publish the schedule within 120 days of the bill's enactment and provide Congress with a definition of "interment schedule availability" within 60 days that accounts for families' preferred burial dates and times. Additionally, the legislation requires the VA to maintain ongoing customer satisfaction surveys and notify Congress before any changes to those surveys or if it stops participating in the American Customer Satisfaction Index survey, along with submitting a historical report on five-year burial scheduling data.
