To ensure compliance, the Government Accountability Office must report to Congress annually on how many cards each agency issued and deactivated, the status of implementation efforts, late fees paid, and whether agencies are properly monitoring card use for fraud and unusual activity. This legislation aims to prevent separated employees from continuing to use government payment cards and to improve federal agencies' financial controls and oversight.
