The Youth Workforce Readiness Act of 2025 establishes a competitive grant program, administered by the Department of Labor, to fund out-of-school-time workforce readiness programs for young people ages 6 to 18 (or 19 if still in high school). National youth-serving organizations operating in at least 35 states can apply for grants ranging from 3 to 5 years to develop and deliver programs through community-based partnerships that combine career exploration, paid and unpaid work experience, mentoring, academic support, and occupational training aligned with in-demand jobs. The legislation prioritizes serving underserved and rural communities, requires programs to measure youth success through established performance metrics, and authorizes $100 million annually for fiscal years 2026 through 2030. Additionally, the bill requires local workforce boards to establish youth councils to ensure young people's interests are represented in workforce planning decisions.
