The Fight Fentanyl Act amends federal drug control law to strengthen efforts against fentanyl trafficking by requiring the Office of National Drug Control Policy and local drug task forces (known as HIDTAs) to provide detailed reports on fentanyl seizures, prosecutions, and trafficking patterns in their regions. The bill authorizes $333 million annually for fiscal years 2025 through 2030 to fund these high-intensity drug trafficking areas and increases funding for a related drug intelligence program from $10 million to $14.224 million. Additionally, the legislation directs the Attorney General to make available federal prosecutors specifically focused on investigating and prosecuting fentanyl trafficking organizations from 2024 through 2030, with a process established for temporarily reassigning prosecutors to cases as needed. The bill affects federal drug enforcement agencies, local law enforcement, and U.S. attorneys' offices across the country involved in combating the fentanyl crisis.
