The Protect Our Prosecutors and Judges Act of 2025 expands federal law to allow prosecutors and federal judges to carry concealed firearms nationwide, similar to existing protections for law enforcement officers. Currently employed prosecutors and federal judges who meet firearms training standards and obtain proper identification would be authorized to carry concealed weapons, while retired prosecutors and judges with at least 10 years of service would receive the same privilege if they pass annual firearms qualification tests. Both active and retired individuals must pass background checks, demonstrate firearms proficiency that meets their state's standards, and cannot have pending disciplinary actions, mental health disqualifications, or be under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The bill contains no new federal funding requirements, instead relying on prosecutors and judges to bear the cost of required firearms training and qualification tests. The Attorney General and the Director of the Administrative Office of United States Courts would have authority to issue regulations implementing the law.
