The Advanced Artificial Intelligence Security Readiness Act of 2025 directs the National Security Agency to develop comprehensive security guidance protecting advanced artificial intelligence systems and their supply chains from theft and sabotage by foreign adversaries. The guidance will identify vulnerabilities unique to AI technologies, pinpoint critical supply chain elements at risk, and recommend strategies for protecting sensitive AI components like model weights, preventing insider threats, and detecting cyber attacks. The NSA must consult with AI developers, researchers, national laboratories, and relevant federal agencies including the Commerce Department and Department of Homeland Security while developing these recommendations. The legislation requires the NSA to submit a preliminary progress report within 180 days and a final report with both unclassified and classified versions within one year of the bill's enactment, with the unclassified version to be shared publicly and with the private sector to help protect critical AI systems against nation-state actors and other sophisticated threats.
