The Defense Workforce Integration Act of 2025 aims to help people transition into defense-related careers when they cannot serve in the military. The bill requires the Department of Defense to create a pathway for military recruits who are medically disqualified to move into civilian Defense Department jobs they're qualified for, with the Air Force's existing DRIVE program serving as a potential model. Additionally, the legislation directs the Pentagon to establish a program informing people rejected from military service about employment opportunities in the defense industry, cybersecurity, research and development, emergency preparedness, and other national security roles. The bill also requires the Navy to inform its personnel about career opportunities at Military Sealift Command and shipbuilding programs during the military transition assistance process. The Pentagon must report back to Congress within one year on how these programs are being implemented.
