This bill directs the Department of Veterans Affairs to provide a $525 burial allowance to help cover plot and interment costs when spouses, surviving spouses, minor children, or adult children of eligible veterans are buried in state-owned cemeteries. Currently, the VA provides this allowance only for veterans themselves buried in state cemeteries, but not for their family members. The $525 amount will be adjusted over time to account for inflation. The law takes effect immediately upon passage and applies to all family member burials occurring after the bill is enacted. This change affects families of all eligible veterans and aims to ease the financial burden of funeral and burial expenses for loved ones.
