This bill directs the federal government to reorganize land ownership around Carson City, Nevada, correcting boundaries and updating a 2009 land management law affecting the area. It requires federal agencies to transfer roughly 1,270 acres of land to the city at no cost for public uses like recreation and flood control, plus a small parcel for road construction, while requiring the city to build a pedestrian crosswalk near the Forest Service's Carson Ranger District Office within two years. Separately, about 356 acres of federal land would be sold to qualified private bidders, and the city would transfer about 45 acres back to federal ownership, some of which would then also be sold. Proceeds from these land sales go into a special account that can fund wildlife habitat projects, wildfire prevention, land acquisition, and city infrastructure and education programs without needing further congressional approval. The bill also updates the 2009 law to give Carson City more flexibility to lease or sell certain lands to third parties, including for the Capitol City Gun Club and Eagle Valley Golf Course, and sets a one-year deadline for the Interior Secretary to sell qualifying land to interested buyers once the bill becomes law.
