H.R. 3541, the See the Board Act, creates a federal grant program to help nonprofit organizations provide free eye care services to public school students. The bill directs the Department of Health and Human Services to establish grants that fund portable or mobile eye care equipment and operational costs, allowing nonprofits to bring vision screenings, eye exams, and optical services directly to elementary and secondary schools. Eligible organizations can use qualified healthcare providers and optometrists to conduct screenings and exams on school grounds, then dispense glasses to students at no cost. Congress encourages these organizations to educate students and parents about the importance of regular eye exams and vision care. The bill authorizes whatever funding is necessary to run the program from 2026 through 2031, with the grant program to be established within 180 days of the bill's enactment.
