This bill requires colleges and universities to add suicide prevention contact information to student identification cards, starting one year after the law takes effect. Schools must include phone numbers for the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, the Crisis Text Line, and their own campus mental health center on all new ID cards distributed. For schools that don't create ID cards, they must post this same contact information on their website instead. The legislation affects all higher education institutions that issue student IDs and aims to make mental health resources more readily available to students in crisis. If any of the listed crisis organizations cease to exist, the Secretary of Education can replace them with a similar organization serving the same purpose.
