S. 371
The SBA Disaster Transparency Act requires the Small Business Administration to publish disaster assistance reports on its public website in addition to submitting them to Congress. The bill modifies existing law that already mandates the SBA to report on its disaster loan programs, but currently only requires these reports to go to lawmakers. Under this legislation, the same reports that detail the agency's disaster assistance activities would also be made available to the public online. The bill affects small businesses and communities seeking information about SBA disaster programs, as well as researchers, advocates, and citizens who want to track how federal disaster assistance is being distributed. No additional funding is specified since the bill only changes where existing reports are published, and no specific timeline is established beyond the current reporting requirements already in law.
