This bill directs the U.S. Department of Interior to study whether a selective water withdrawal system could be installed at Glen Canyon Dam to improve hydropower generation while preventing invasive species from entering the Colorado River. The study must be completed within 18 months and will be conducted in consultation with the Department of Energy and power contractors who operate the dam. The federal government will fund the feasibility study through appropriated funds at no cost to be repaid. If the study determines the system is feasible and power contractors agree, the Secretary of Interior may proceed with construction. The bill does not affect current or future Colorado River water management policies for Lakes Powell and Mead.
