The Pride In Mental Health Act of 2025 establishes a federal grant program to improve mental health services and outcomes for LGBTQ+ youth, including transgender, nonbinary, and other sexual and gender minority young people. Grant recipients can use funding to provide mental health and crisis intervention services, train caregivers in cultural competency, develop evidence-based practices, prevent school bullying, integrate mental health services into schools, and create family support programs. The bill explicitly prohibits grant recipients from using federal funds for conversion therapy—defined as efforts to change sexual orientation or gender identity for compensation—and requires the government to review and update mental health resources while developing a federal survey to measure mental health outcomes among LGBTQ+ youth. The legislation authorizes $20 million annually from 2026 through 2030 for these programs and requires the Secretary of Health and Human Services to submit a report to Congress within two years on mental health services for LGBTQ+ youth in foster care and other social service programs.
