The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration must develop automated detection systems within one year to identify suspicious registration activity and has authority to temporarily suspend registrations during fraud investigations. Additionally, the Transportation Department and Department of Justice must coordinate on investigating freight fraud cases through a memorandum of understanding within 180 days, and the bill tightens the definition of unauthorized brokerage activities to ensure only qualified entities can provide interstate transportation brokerage services.
