The Securing Infrastructure from Adversaries Act of 2026 prohibits the Secretary of Transportation from contracting with or awarding grants to companies that use or procure light detection and ranging (LiDAR) technology from designated foreign entities and countries. Any contractor or grant recipient must certify that they will not use covered foreign-made LiDAR technology in performing their work with the Department of Transportation. The Secretary may waive this prohibition on a case-by-case basis if deemed in the national interest, but must notify Congress at least 15 days before doing so. The restrictions take effect on June 30, 2026, and apply to all new or renewed contracts and grant agreements. The law exempts activities related to vehicle safety testing, research, and evaluation.
