The ADS for Mental Health Services Act requires large digital advertising platforms to report annually on their mental health-related public service advertisements to the Federal Trade Commission. The law applies to social media platforms and online services that make money from advertising, focus on user-generated content, and have more than 100 million monthly users. These platforms must report how many free mental health ads they run, their estimated value, and how many promote local mental health resources or free services. The FTC must then compile this information into annual public reports for Congress within 180 days of receiving the platform data. The law expires automatically after five years.
