119th (2025–2027)
H.Res. 418
H.Res. 418 requires every House member to participate in at least one "ride-along" with a local law enforcement officer during each two-year congressional term, sitting as a passenger in a patrol vehicle for one full shift in their home district. The House Committee on Administration will develop specific rules to implement the requirement, while the Committee on Ethics will be responsible for tracking compliance. Members who fail to complete a ride-along by the deadline will be publicly named on the Ethics Committee's website and identified in the Congressional Record as non-compliant. The resolution contains no direct federal funding and applies starting with the 118th Congress, continuing indefinitely for all current and future House members.
