Referred to the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, and in addition to the Committee on Small Business, for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned.
This bill extends the Pandemic Response Accountability Committee, an oversight body created during the COVID-19 pandemic, from its scheduled expiration in 2025 to 2030. The Committee was originally established to monitor spending and prevent fraud related to pandemic relief programs. The bill also requires this Committee to submit a report to Congress by September 30, 2030, analyzing how extending the statute of limitations for Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans has affected enforcement efforts. The statute of limitations determines how long federal authorities have to prosecute fraud cases related to these small business loans. By extending the Committee's life and requiring this analysis, the bill aims to ensure continued oversight of PPP loan fraud and accountability for five additional years beyond the original deadline.
