The Workforce Data Enhancement Act establishes a grant program requiring the Department of Labor to dedicate 5 to 10 percent of available workforce program funding to help states improve their workforce data systems. Eligible recipients are state agencies or multi-state partnerships responsible for managing unemployment insurance wage records, labor market information, and workforce development programs. Grant funds can be used to design and implement data systems that integrate information from education, workforce development, and labor market sources, with priorities given to multi-state consortiums and projects that improve real-time skill data, support public-private partnerships, and expand credential tracking systems. The grants are available for up to three years and must include safeguards for individual privacy and data security. Recipients must submit a report within 180 days after their grant period ends describing the activities conducted and improvements achieved in workforce data collection and use.
