The Preventing Authoritarian Policing Tactics on America's Streets Act restricts how federal law enforcement officers and armed forces can conduct crowd control operations in the United States. The bill requires that federal officers must display clear identification showing their agency and name or rank at all times during protests, demonstrations, and civil disobedience events, and prohibits them from covering up this information or using unmarked vehicles to arrest civilians. Except in cases where a state governor and local officials jointly request federal assistance in writing, or when the Insurrection Act is formally invoked, federal law enforcement can only perform crowd control on federal property and immediately adjacent public areas like sidewalks and streets next to federal buildings. Within 24 hours of deploying personnel for crowd control, federal agencies must post public notices on their websites detailing the deployment date, number of personnel deployed by location, the mission's nature, where detainees are being held, and any written assistance requests. Any arrests made in violation of these identification and location restrictions would be unlawful under the bill.
