The SCREEN for Type 1 Diabetes Act of 2026 directs the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to launch a national public awareness campaign about type 1 diabetes screening, detection, and management. The campaign will include written materials, public service announcements across multiple media platforms, and educational resources tailored to communities with the highest rates of type 1 diabetes, as well as materials distributed to healthcare providers, schools, and public health departments. The bill authorizes five million dollars annually from fiscal year 2027 through 2031 to carry out the campaign, with funding distributed through grants to nonprofit organizations and to state, local, and tribal health departments to increase screening efforts. The Secretary of Health and Human Services must submit a report to Congress within one year of the law's enactment assessing the campaign's effectiveness and its impact on type 1 diabetes detection and management.
