The OASIS Act of 2026 directs the Secretary of Defense to strengthen air and missile defense capabilities in the Middle East region by improving how the U.S. and its regional allies acquire and share these systems. Within 180 days of enactment, the Defense Department must assess current air and missile defense systems and interceptors used by the U.S. and partner nations, analyze inventory levels and production rates, and report on systems damaged or destroyed in attacks since October 2023. The legislation also requires the Pentagon to develop a strategy for multinational cooperation on air and missile defense acquisition, including exploring joint production partnerships, establishing regional weapons stockpiles, and identifying lower-cost interceptor alternatives. Additionally, the bill establishes a "Multilateral Middle East Missile and Drone Defense Working Group" that must meet at least twice yearly to share battlefield lessons learned and coordinate defense improvements among U.S. allies in the region. The working group will submit annual reports to Congress detailing participating partners, capability gaps, and recommendations for improving regional air defense coordination.
