The Growing Opportunities in Agriculture Act (GO Ag Act) directs the Secretary of Education to award competitive grants to secondary schools for creating new agricultural education programs. Schools can receive up to $100,000 per grant for a maximum of five years to fund curriculum development, equipment, technology, and other startup costs for programs that teach agriculture-focused career and technical skills, including classroom instruction, hands-on learning, and leadership development. The bill requires grant applicants to demonstrate how their programs will meet regional employer needs, benefit students including disadvantaged populations, and sustain themselves after federal funding ends, and it mandates annual reporting on student performance outcomes. The legislation authorizes $5 million in federal funding through fiscal year 2028 to support these new agricultural education initiatives in schools across the country.
