The Tick Identification Pilot Program Act of 2025 directs the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to award grants to states for programs that help the public identify ticks and assess disease risks. The program allows residents to submit photos of ticks they've encountered online and receive expert identification and disease risk assessment within 72 hours, along with recommendations for medical evaluation or testing and prevention advice. States with higher rates of Lyme disease and other tick-borne illnesses will receive priority for funding. The programs must maintain databases of tick encounters and geographic information to track disease patterns. The CDC is required to report annually to Congress on program data through fiscal year 2029.
