The Agriculture Skills Preparation for Industry Recruitment Efforts Act creates a new federal grant program to help agricultural schools and colleges develop workforce training programs in partnership with farming companies and industry organizations. Eligible institutions—including public universities, community colleges, and career and technical schools with agriculture programs—can apply for federal funding to offer internships, apprenticeships, and technical skills training to students. The grants are designed to help address workforce shortages in agriculture while making the industry more competitive and improving worker retention. Schools receiving grants must spend at least 5 percent of funds on recruiting students and training faculty to prepare them for agricultural careers. The Department of Agriculture's National Institute of Food and Agriculture will manage the program, which must be operational by January 31, 2026.
