Summary

Highlight any text to annotate
This bill extends temporary protected status to Ukrainian nationals and stateless people who last lived in Ukraine. The designation would begin October 20, 2026, and last until July 1, 2029, allowing eligible Ukrainians to remain and work in the United States during this period. To qualify, applicants must have continuously resided and been physically present in the U.S. since the bill's enactment, be admissible as immigrants, and register for the status. The Department of Homeland Security must process applications and make decisions within 90 days, and the bill allows granted beneficiaries to travel abroad for emergencies with prior approval. If enacted after October 20, 2026, the bill applies retroactively and prevents those who qualify from being penalized for any time spent in the country without legal status.
