This bill requires states to provide detailed information about SNAP (food stamp) recipients to the U.S. Department of Agriculture whenever the agency requests it. States must submit recipient-level data, case files, and other program information within 30 days of a request—or faster if the USDA determines there is an urgent need for program integrity checks or investigations. The data can be shared with federal and state law enforcement agencies to help enforce SNAP rules and detect fraud. If a state fails to comply with a data request, the federal government can withhold or suspend federal funding that helps states administer the program. The bill includes protections requiring the USDA to follow existing federal privacy laws when handling the sensitive information it receives from states.
