This bill directs the Secretary of Labor to establish a competitive grant program that awards funding to community colleges and career and technical education centers to develop training programs using immersive technology—such as virtual reality, augmented reality, and mixed reality—to prepare workers for in-demand jobs. Eligible organizations can receive grants of up to five years to create or improve career pathways that teach practical skills through these technologies, with priority given to programs that partner with employers, serve individuals facing employment barriers, target rural communities, or help workers transition from declining industries. The bill authorizes $50 million annually from fiscal year 2026 through 2035, with grantees required to submit progress reports on student outcomes and the Department of Labor required to share best practices with Congress every two years. Additionally, the bill dedicates 1-5 percent of annual funding for independent evaluation and technical assistance to ensure program effectiveness.
