The Preventing Prosecutors from Protecting Predators Act of 2026 requires local and state prosecutors in jurisdictions with 100,000 or more residents to annually report detailed data on how they handle violent crimes against women and children, including sexual assault, domestic violence, child abuse, and sex trafficking. Prosecutors must disclose the number of cases they declined to prosecute and their reasons, details about bail decisions, plea agreements, trial outcomes, and sentencing recommendations. The Attorney General will collect these reports, establish uniform reporting standards, and publish the data publicly while submitting it to Congress. Prosecutors who fail to submit reports face loss of 25 to 50 percent of federal grant funding under violence-against-women programs, and those declining to prosecute more than half of referred cases may be required to submit improvement plans or face reduced grant eligibility for up to two years.
