The bill applies to new hires and contracts going forward immediately upon passage, and it defines "crimes of violence" and "dangerous crimes" by reference to D.C. law while also including substantially similar offenses under federal or state law. The legislation was introduced in January 2026 and referred to the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.
