Referred to the Committee on Agriculture, and in addition to the Committees on Ways and Means, and the Budget, for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned.
The Farm and Family Relief Act provides substantial economic relief to farmers, agricultural producers, and timber businesses facing financial hardship in 2025. The legislation allocates approximately $5.9 billion in direct payments and support programs, including one-time emergency payments to commodity producers (wheat, corn, soybeans, cotton, rice, and others), up to $900,000 per specialty crop producer for crop losses, $330 million in block grants to sugar beet cooperatives, and $500 million in grants and loans to timber businesses experiencing revenue declines. The bill also delays certain Food and Nutrition Act requirements until 2032-2033, establishes new programs to help domestic agricultural producers expand markets, creates a Forest Service office to commercialize forest research, allocates $15 million for international timber market promotion, and immediately eliminates four executive tariff orders upon enactment. These measures are designed to provide immediate relief while supporting longer-term market development for American agricultural and timber products.
