This bill prohibits federal tax dollars from being used to pay for health insurance coverage for undocumented immigrants. Specifically, it amends the Affordable Care Act to prevent states from using federal funding to reduce insurance premiums or cost-sharing expenses for individuals who are not U.S. citizens or legally present in the country. The bill also requires the Secretary of Health and Human Services to cancel within 30 days any existing state waivers that would have violated these new rules. The legislation would affect states that currently receive federal funds for health insurance programs and any undocumented immigrants who might have previously been eligible for such coverage through state programs. There is no new funding authorized by this bill, as it restricts how existing federal healthcare dollars can be spent rather than appropriating new money.
