The Mental Health Access and Provider Support Act of 2026 increases Medicare reimbursement rates for mental health services provided by psychologists, raising the payment from 75 percent to 85 percent of the standard fee schedule amount. This change applies to both outpatient mental health services and related mental health treatments covered under Medicare. The bill is designed to improve access to mental health care by making it more financially viable for psychologists and other mental health providers to treat Medicare patients, particularly seniors and disabled individuals who rely on the program. The increased reimbursement rates take effect on January 1, 2027, and the legislation was referred to the House Committees on Energy and Commerce and Ways and Means for consideration.
