The No Cuts to Public Schools Act prevents federal funding cuts to major K-12 education programs during fiscal years 2025, 2026, and 2027. The bill protects funding for critical programs including special education services under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, Title I funding for disadvantaged students, teacher quality initiatives, English language learner programs, school safety and discipline programs, Indian education, homeless student services, and other core education initiatives. If Congress appropriates less money for any of these programs in a given year compared to the 2024 funding levels, the bill automatically provides additional money from the Treasury to restore the difference. This mechanism ensures that schools cannot experience budget cuts for these essential programs, though the automatic funding does not count against congressional budget rules that typically require spending cuts elsewhere to offset new spending.
