Referred to the Committee on Financial Services, and in addition to the Committees on Foreign Affairs, and Energy and Commerce, for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned.
This bill directs the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States, a government body that reviews foreign investments for national security concerns, to examine all property and business transactions completed since January 1, 2017, that involve real estate or facilities related to the nation's nuclear weapons systems. These facilities include intercontinental ballistic missile bases, submarine bases, strategic bomber bases, weapons storage areas, nuclear command centers, and National Nuclear Security Administration research facilities. The committee must assess whether any of these transactions pose a risk to national security and determine if any warrant further action, such as reopening a review or recommending intervention by the President. The Secretary of the Treasury must submit a classified report with findings and recommendations to Congress within 180 days of the bill's enactment, along with an unclassified summary where possible.
