The bill also mandates that agencies report any lost or stolen service firearms to state and local law enforcement as well as the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms and FBI, and requires training and written materials for officers about safe storage practices and the risks of keeping firearms at home. The legislation applies to all civilian and military federal law enforcement officers and anyone assisting them in law enforcement duties, and it authorizes whatever funding is necessary to implement these provisions.
