This bill establishes a federal grant program to help law enforcement agencies combat opioid trafficking, particularly fentanyl distribution. The grants, administered by the Department of Justice's Office of Community Oriented Policing Services, would be available to states, local governments, Indian tribes, and multi-jurisdictional task forces to hire officers, establish or expand task forces, purchase equipment and technology, and conduct related enforcement activities. At least 20 percent of grant funding must be reserved specifically for Indian tribal law enforcement and multi-jurisdictional task forces, with priority given to applicants establishing or expanding task forces across jurisdictions. The bill authorizes $70 million annually for fiscal years 2027 through 2031, and requires the COPS Director to provide technical assistance and submit annual reports to Congress beginning two years after the program's implementation.
