The task forces will include representatives from federal agencies, AI developers, social media companies, news organizations, privacy advocates, labor groups, and academic institutions. Each task force must submit recommendations to NIST within 270 days and provide annual progress reports to Congress for five years. The bill aims to help consumers distinguish between authentic and AI-generated content while considering privacy protections when online platforms display content origin information.
