The SCREEN for Type 1 Diabetes Act of 2026 directs the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to launch a national public awareness campaign about type 1 diabetes screening and detection. The campaign will include written materials, public service announcements across multiple media platforms, and targeted outreach to healthcare providers, schools, and communities most affected by type 1 diabetes. The legislation requires the campaign to be culturally and linguistically tailored and coordinated with other federal diabetes efforts, with grants awarded to nonprofit organizations and state and local health departments to implement these initiatives. The bill authorizes five million dollars annually for fiscal years 2027 through 2031 to carry out the campaign. The Secretary of Health and Human Services must report to Congress within one year on the campaign's progress and its impact on type 1 diabetes detection and screening rates.
