This bill requires the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner to link family members' applications together throughout the NEXUS program process. NEXUS is a trusted traveler program that allows expedited border processing for pre-approved low-risk travelers between the United States and Canada. Under the new requirements, one family member can schedule interviews for all linked family members, and families would have the option to participate in joint interviews. Children under 14 years old who are linked to a parent or guardian's application could be exempted from attending their own interview. The Commissioner must implement these changes within 180 days after the bill becomes law, affecting families who apply for or renew their NEXUS program membership.
